In 2003, Dumal traveled to India to pursue a Bachelor of Performing Arts at Bhatkhande Music Institute University in Lucknow. This period of rigorous training and exposure to diverse musical traditions significantly enriched his musical prowess.

The Voice Teen Sri Lanka

In 2019, Dumal took on a prominent role as a judge on “The Voice Teen Sri Lanka,” a show that sought to discover and nurture young musical talent across the country. His participation as a judge highlighted his commitment to supporting and developing the next generation of artists, further solidifying his influence in the Sri Lankan music industry.

Rise to Fame

Dumal’s journey to fame began in 2009 when he participated in “Sirasa Superstar” Season 3, one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent reality TV singing competitions. His remarkable performances earned him third place, marking his emergence as a notable figure in the Sri Lankan music scene.

In 2012, he served as a judge on the reality show “Poddanta Puluwan,” and in 2013, he returned to “Sirasa Superstar” as a judge for its sixth season. His expertise and mentorship continued to shape the industry when he became a judge and vocal trainer for “Rupavahini Ranaviru Real Star” in 2014.

Dumal’s talent and contributions to music have been recognized with numerous awards. He won the Best Singer Award at the State Music Awards in 2013, 2015, and 2018, and was honored with the Best Singer title at the Rupavahini State Awards in 2015. His outstanding achievements were further acknowledged with a Presidential Award in 2016. Dumal’s excellence in playback singing earned him the Best Playback Singer Award at the Raigam Tele’es in 2017 and 2019, as well as the Sumathi Awards in 2020 and 2023. He also received an honorable award from Peradeniya University in 2017 and the Best Playback Film Award at the Signis Awards in 2022.
